He walks...He runs...He sacks!

My baby is growing up. in fact, he is now officially weaned. And while this is 2 months later than any of his brothers, it is far too early for me. If I weren't heading to Phoenix ...ALONE...in 2 days, I'm quite certain he would not be weaned. I can't bring myself to really think about it, or I will be a bigger mess than Rob can handle. And I may find myself not as certain as I was a couple days ago that Joel is the caboose.

So I'll move on. We've had some gorgeous afternoons the last few weeks, and this day was Joel's first time playing outside since learning to walk last month. He was literally beside himself with glee. Especially when handed the football. Not sure, but there must be a football gene. Daniel definitely has it. And Joel...well, look for yourself.

No one showed him how to do this. He did NOT watch the Superbowl (he was sleeping). And as I said, this was his FIRST time playing outside this year. Obviously there are a few other fanatics around, but I'm serious when I say he had not watched them play before this day. It is a little frightening.

Thankfully for us, he is just as passionate about the baseball, and can already throw a mean fastball (you think I'm kidding!) Call us cruel, but we've made an executive decision that our kids will not be permitted to play football other than recreationally (i.e. in the backyard). Daniel has somehow determined that upon turning 18 (why does he think this is a magic number?) he will be free to join the NFL (like running off to join the circus), and we will be powerless to stop him. The thing is, he is really amazingly adept at running the football and part of me would love to see him succeed at it. But I love him too much and it is just too dangerous and rough for this mama and daddy. And yes, Rob is as determined about this as I am. So Baseball, Soccer, these passions we will support, even encourage. Football will reign in the backyard only.

But they are sure cute in those uniforms, aren't they?

and in case you're wondering where in the world Micah is, he was very busy watering the (yet-to-be-decluttered-for-spring) deck at this time.
A different drummer that one marches to.

Oh my! He looks like a different Joel than the baby that was here at Christmas, they grow so quickly. So funny to see that tiny little body in his football stance!

I can totally relate to the weaning the caboose. Hayley was almost 4 months older than her siblings when I stopped and it was torture for her Mama. It was a feeling I never got over until she was 6. Sorry, not very encouraging but, the point is that I did eventually get over it! :)

Thanks for the post of your beautiful boys. We still check everyday to see what they are up to.

Have a wonderful time in Phoenix. 12 sleeps until Disney for us!

Is that the little squirt we left in Feb.? He does look determined!
Maybe Micah will join in when he gets his planting and watering done. He looks so contented taking care of God's flowers etc. See you in April.

So, so adorable! It's amazing how early their personalities show up, huh?
