My Apple Tree

First of all I want to say thank you so much to all who took the time to comment on my last post. Thank you for remembering Timmy with us. Thank you for your prayers. We actually had a really wonderful family day. There were definitely many tears and unspoken words. But we felt the prayers of those who love us upholding us through the day. Thank you. I took many pictures at the corn maze/pumpkin patch and I will post them soon.

But first I have to share these I got of Micah. My little apple tree was a gift from my early days of being a mama. It was my 3rd mother's day. Rob had called from the road and told me to wait in the back of the house. Timmy came back to get me, "Mama, come! We have a surprise for you! It's an apple tree!!" He'd been prepped the whole ride home to keep the surprise. It was so adorable. He was too excited.

The apple tree has been through a lot, so it is not exactly the healthiest of trees. Several years ago we had a HUGE tree fall across the back of our yard (spanned our property). Some of the branches dug into the ground when it fell. The apple tree was hit and lost at least 2 main branches. Then later that year we redid our yard and had to transplant the tree. Needless to say, it has not been a huge producer. This year was our biggest crop, about 15 apples :-).

So picking the apples is an event for me, and I always try to get a picture. This year Micah was the harvester. Can he be any cuter?

And it cracks me up how completely serious he is in these pictures. Very serious work, that apple-picking is.

I have sooo been meaning to call you and somehow posting a comment eases my anxiety about not getting to the phone! We don't go through October without apple picking ... or without crying for Tim. I will never get rid of our "Goodnight Moon" book ... what ridiculous giggles we had with Tim and Gabe late that night on our couch. Unforgetable! I could not escape regular thoughts of Tim this summer and soon realized that it was because Annika was approaching her 6th birthday ... tears and gratitide abounded. ANYWAY... enough for a blog comment! Expect a call. With love.
